Mr. Brown and his piece of art

There he was near the fireplace in his mansion while outside the dreadful weather frightened all life around. Yet, Mr. Brown just stood firmly in the middle of his large cosy room totally petrified. He was astonished with his recent masterpiece. There it was, the compelling proof of his creative and ingenious work. He was pretty aware of the impact his work would bring into society: an impressive mixture of dark colours and deforming shapes represented Mr Brown’s vision of the perfect representation of a kiss.
The results were quite amazing and never seen before. Mr. Brown just felt the message contained in that magical blank canvas and thought how important it was to keep it behind closed doors. It was too late.
In the main hall a suspicious human shape had already entered in the house and went directly to the second floor where Mr. Brown remained. It seemed to have a good knowledge of the interior. Suddenly, the intruder invaded Mr Brown’s room screaming impatiently for his last creation. Mr. Brown froze from head to toe at hearing the man’s voice. Though the man was dressed in black and had his face hidden, his voice would always be identifiable to Mr. Brown. What a disappointment! His younger brother had been filled with jealousy and the confirmation was obvious. Fortunately, the maid who was supposed to be cleaning that afternoon had noticed the drops of water and dirt left by the “intruder” and so went upstairs to figure out what was going on. She turned up unexpectedly with the two brothers face to face getting ready to start a quarrel. Due to that her first reaction was to call the police. Everything went really fast from that moment on.
Even though Mr Brown’s brother hadn’t suffered criminal charge nor Mr Brown’s work had been stolen, the truth is that rather than a piece of art, a whole treasure had been lost: a friend and a brother!
